What happened to Eminem?

What happened to Eminem? Well, after shovelling shit all his life (f*** you Debbieee) he rose to stardom in 1999. Didn’t do much, simply walked in a strip club and had his jacket zipped up. Ever since then he been dope, suspensful with a pencil. Basically started doing black music so selfish-ly and used it to get himself wealth-y. He became not only the highest selling artist of the 2000s but is also known to be quite mellow, a white fellow, his pee is bright yellow, he likes jello, he’s like “hello”? He is the only rapper in the history of hip-hop who can go acapella and chop a fella to mozzarella worse than a helicopter propeller. A true ladies’ man, who do knows one thing though, that bitches they come, they go, Saturday through Sunday Monday, Monday through Sunday yo. Then it all went downhill for Dear Slim,

While people were still very much into rap (nobody listens to technoo!), he welcomed ya’ll to the Eminem show and spent a few years battling a serious addiction to prescription pills, which resulted in a nearly fatal overdose in 2007. In fact, he hit his bottom rock so hard he bounced twice, suffice this time around. But you know what also happened to Eminem? He picked himself off the ground and f***ing swam ‘fore he drowned.

Fast-forward to 2017. He owns 13 Grammys. Two of the three best selling hip-hop albums in history are his. He is the only rapper in history that won an Academy Award for an original hip-hop song. He changed the way rappers storytell and deliver. His lyricism as well as freestyling skill are paramount within the genre so much so that there is no rapper out there willing to diss him, beef him or indeed call him out or challenge him in any way. Why? Because that would be the end of that career.

Last but not least - and thus we come to the real (Slim Shady? No, the real - ) answer to the question What happened to Eminem? - he is a person who managed to recover from being addicted to benzodiazepine. I don’t think anyone who didn’t go through such an ordeal can really know how horrific that truly is, I only know I’ve seen enough reports stating that quitting benzos is harder than kicking heroin. He is someone who got himself sober and went on to write and masterfully deliver a song such as “Rap God”. He changed his style, did some maturing and growing up, got through some extreme times. It shows on his face, it shows in his lyrics. It was always personal and to those who complain that he has no more stories to tell as grand as “Stan”, I can only say that the first time in my life a rap song made me cry was when I heard the lyrics to “Talkin’ 2 Myself”, a song released 11 years afer his debut album. That’s eleven in written. It was always personal. It was always a grand story to tell. Just from another man’s perspective. I rejoice that that man came to be, that he is still here, healthy and clean and that he is staying away from the media circus as much as he can. And if some day he chooses to want to stop telling stories, and chooses to live his life in peace, after all that he has been through, I will thank him for all that he has given the world through his art and be content that he is alive and well somewhere in Detroit.

So what happened to Eminem?

He became so good that he can’t even say it ’cause it ain’t even cool to sound cocky anymore.

And while tomorrow people will still be asking “what happened to Eminem?”, he’ll be standing on his Monopoly board, laughing and say: “Thanks for the support, asshole.” :)
